Scammers Are Targeting Kids Online

As part of Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford advises Nevada’s youth and parents to be aware of online scams targeting minors. Scams come via apps, games and social network sites. Youth are particularly attractive targets for scammers because they have unused Social Security numbers, don’t check their credit reports, and are used to sharing information online. AG Ford says “All users, even young adults, should be cautious about sharing their personal information.” Among the things young adults should beware of, sketchy scholarship scams, things for sale at ridiculous prices, and ransom threats of account deletions.
