Details of Officer-Involved Shooting in Sparks Released

Reno Police have released more information about the shooting of a suspect by Sparks Police Sunday. The call police responded to, was for a suicidal subject armed with a gun, on the 1000 block of Rock Blvd. Responding officers met with the reporting person, and learned the subject had left in a vehicle, just before 6pm. Officers spotted and tried to stop the vehicle, which then crashed at Rock and McCarran. Sparks Police say the driver was uncooperative and reached toward a gun. Officers fired their service weapons, and the subject was pronounced dead on scene. No officers or other citizens were injured during the incident. The Washoe County Officer Involved Shooting Protocol was enacted, and the Reno Police Department is the lead investigating agency. The involved officers have been placed on paid administrative leave.
