City of Reno councilmembers are working on the budget in meetings this week, and they’re looking at ways to cover a funding gap of around a half a million dollars that’s need to pay for the parks and recreation department and special events. One idea is to work with the RSCVA to see if they’re willing to cover the costs with part of the lodging tax they receive that normally goes to market our region. Reno City Council’s Jenny Brekhus talks about why funding is coming up short.

The RSCVA takes in around 25 to 30 million a year from the lodging tax.
