A high school senior from the Washoe County School District has been awarded a college-sponsored scholarship beginning this fall. Thomas D. Ballinger, who graduated from North Star Online School, plans to study genetics at Washington State University. He is one of nearly 4,000 winners of college-sponsored award recipients named by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
