The North Complex of fires has grown to 8,600 acres and is zero percent contained. Last night, winds were actively spreading the fire. The fires in Lassen and Plumas counties are believed to have been caused by lightning. CAL FIRE Lassen-Modoc Unit continues to assist with resources (dozers, engines, and helicopters) on the north end of the fire near the community of Susanville. Dozers were able to make some progress on the fire overnight. The three largest fires within the North Complex have merged into one fire which is now being referred to as the Sheep Fire.
The Loyalton Fire has grown to 46,386 acres with 35% containment. The cause was determined to be lightning. As of now, 5 homes and 6 outbuildings have been destroyed. Mandatory Evacuation Orders remain in effect for Balls Canyon Road, Long Valley Road, Copperfield, and Sierra Brooks.
