Conviction In Shooting

A Sparks man has been convicted of attempted murder and felony battery. VC Fireworks Ignite Brush Fire

Those who celebrated the 4th of July in Virginia City had an interesting evening. About 5 minutes into the fireworks show, embers falling from the sky sparked a brush fire. That fire burned about 5 acres before Story County crews could get control of it. No injuries were reported. The fireworks show was cancelled.MORE

Burning Vehicle Sparks Goldranch Wildfire

Fire crews made quick work of a brush fire on westbound I-80 near the Goldranch exit this morning. According to Chief Charlie Moore with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection, the wildfire was sparked by a vehicle fire in the area. No injuries were reported.MORE
