Caltrans Working on I-80 This Weekend

The California Department of Transportation will be working on westbound Interstate 80 east of Truckee today and Saturday. A Caltrans contractor will grind off rough patches of asphalt in the two right lanes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days. No work is scheduled for next week due to poor weather.MORE

The president of the Washoe County School District Board of Trustees has announced she has breast cancer. Angie Taylor made the announcement in an email Wednesday. School district spokeswoman Victoria Campbell says Taylor is not resigning, but her future school board activities may be limited. Taylor was appointed to the school board in 2014.MORE

Truck Crashes Into Paradise Park

A pickup truck crashed through a fence into Paradise Park Wednesday night just before 10 O’clock. According to police the vehicle took the curve on Elementary Drive near Bernice Mathews Elementary School too fast and crashed into the fence.
