People throwing cigarettes into juniper bushes are being blamed for a fire that severely damaged a residential complex in Gardnerville. Hawken Fire 100% Contained

Firefighters were able to get a better estimate on the Hawken Fire acreage, downgrading it from 300 to about 278 acres. As of Friday at 3pm, the fire is 100% contained. Firefighters say the threat to homes is over.
