The suspect shot and killed by Carson City Swat Team has been identified as 32 year old Cortney Ronald Staley. Lightning Sparks Series of Fires in The BLM’s Elko District

A thunderstorm likely sparked 14 new fires in the Bureau of Land Management’s Elko District Sunday. The Corta Fire, grew to approximately 8,000 acres and is five percent contained. Two Hazmat Situations Close Interstate 80

There were two hazmat situations Sunday on Interstate 80 in eastern Nevada. The first was near Emigrant Pass in Eureka County about 20 miles west of Carlin involving two tractor-trailer rigs. A pedestrian was taken to to the hospital Saturday night with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a suspected drunken driver. 38-year-old Alexis Anastassatos was booked into the Washoe County jail on charges of felony DUI causing substantial injury and failure to use due care.
