Jasper Fire Now More Than 80 Percent Contained

Sierra Front confirms one home and two outbuildings were burned in the Jasper Fire, that started in Sun Valley and spread into Spanish Springs. Fire Crews are projecting to have it fully contained by 6 p.m. tonight. All forward progress of the Jasper Fire has been stopped and all evacuation advisories have been lifted.MORE

Single Lane Closures Begin Wednesday on Kingsbury Grade

Reno Police Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting on Mt Rose Street

A Sparks Police Officer, conducting an investigation, was involved in a shooting in Reno on Mt. Rose Street near Plumas. A Sparks Police official says the officers involved were looking for wanted subjects. No one was injured in the shooting, but a full investigation is now underway. Fire Damages Homes in Silver Springs

Two homes were damaged by fire in Silver Springs Monday afternoon, and the fire had authorities so concerned an emergency shelter was opened at Silver Springs Community Center. Forward progress on the flames was stopped by about 5 pm. Several people were treated for smoke inhalation.MORE
