Estates Fire in Lemmon Valley Burns More Than Three Acres

A fire north of Lemmon Valley grew to about 3.4 acres before firefighters stopped its progress. The fire was called controlled on Sunday morning. The Estates Fire was first reported at 3:47 p.m. Saturday and burned in grass and heavy sagebrush. The Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District responded. There is no word on a cause.MORE

Seven People Arrested in Fourth of July DUI Crackdown

The Reno Police Department arrested seven people Friday night and Saturday morning in a crackdown on intoxicated drivers. The operation was in conjunction with the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Police stopped 35 drivers total and issued 16 traffic citations. The Nevada Office of Traffic Safety provided the grant that paid for the operation.MORE

Closures on East Second Street Begin Today

Beginning today East Second Street is closed between Kietzke Lane and Giroux Street, as NDOT installs a compact traffic roundabout. The closure continues through the end of day July 18.
