The Verizon Wireless switcher in Stockton, California, has lost the ability to relay calls to 911 from Verizon Wireless callers in the Reno/Sparks/Washoe County areas, so 911 service is not available for Verizon customers in our area for police, fire and ambulance service. Reno Crews Respond to Fire Near UNR

The Reno Fire Department were able to keep a fast growing brush fire to one acre near the University of Nevada-Reno campus. The fire was first reported around 9:00 p.m. last night. Reno Fire Battalion Chief Mike Pilcher says it was stopped 10 minutes after it was reported.  MORE
