The Lassen County Sheriff’s Office says 28 people have been arrested after an operation investigating drug and gang activity, and more people are being sought. Body of Sparks Man Found in Lahontan Reservoir

A body found in Lahontan Reservoir August 31st, is that of a missing Sparks man. Antonio Garcia-Armedarz was reported missing in November 2017. His pickup was also retrieved from the lake. Churchill County investigators suggest there is no sign of a crime.MORE

Heavy Penalty for Sparks Poacher

A Sparks man has been sentenced in Elko District Court for possession of an unlawfully harvested big game animal. 57-year-old Kenneth Hines was fined $5,000 in civil penalties and $28 in administrative fees, and ordered to forfeit the bolt action rifle and his Polaris ATV used in the crime. Flash Flooding Reported in Lyon County

Flash flooding was reported yesterday in Mason Valley just east of Yerington, in Lyon County. There are no reported injuries but several yards have water, mud and debris and at least one home is reported to have been flooded. Road crews worked overnight to make roads passable. The flooding was first reported around 5 p.m.MORE

Fire Rips Through Zephyr Cove Home

Three people and a dog were displaced by a fire at a home last night in Zephyr Cove. The Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District reports a kitchen grease fire spread rapidly through the kitchen. Flames burned one person on the hands and feet, but everyone escaped the fire before any serious injuries.MORE

Sun Valley Man Arrested After Three Hour Standoff

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office used police dogs to arrest a man in Sun Valley after a three-hour standoff yesterday. 46-year-old Christopher Perry was arrested after refusing to come out of a trailer in a back yard near Slope Drive and 4th Avenue.
