Fire Restrictions Now in Place in Washoe County and California

The Bureau of Land Management will implement fire restrictions for public lands managed by the Eagle Lake and Applegate field offices in Lassen, Modoc, Plumas, Sierra, Shasta and Siskiyou counties in California, and in Washoe County. Small Fire Knocked Down Near Hug High School

A small brush fire near Hug High School was likely started by fireworks, according to the Reno Fire Department. The 20 x 50 foot fire broke out just after midnight. Minimum Security Inmate Caught After Walking Away From Camp

The Nevada Department of Corrections says a minimum security inmate who walked away from a fire camp near Elko early Wednesday has been captured. 27-year old Jordan Shane Redger, was tracked to home in the Ryndon area. He attempted to flee through a back window when law enforcement arrived, but was quickly apprehended.MORE

The former top federal prosecutor in Nevada has been cited for misconduct in an 8-year-old sex discrimination case. Fire Affecting 395 Traffic at Red Rock

(KOH) – A new fire has traffic being held intermittently between Red Rock and Cold Springs on northbound US-395.  There are closures also on White Lake Parkway and Crystal Canyon Boulevard.  Some homes have been evacuated. The fire that started about 1pm Friday, was up to 500 acres by 4pm.    MORE
