Fire Knocked Down in Fernley

The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office said a controlled burn near Fernley became a wildfire and burned 50 acres to 60 acres. Crews from the Bureau of Land Management and the Nevada Division of Forestry stopped forward progress of the fire Sunday afternoon. No one was injured.MORE

Deputies with the El Dorado Sheriff’s Office have arrested a gymnastics instructor accused of molesting a girl for several years. Investigators say 54-year-old Keith Willette Sexually assaulted the victim between 1999 and 2004.MORE

A brush and structure fire burning Thursday afternoon prompted a mutual aid call from Lyon County to surrounding agencies, including Carson City.
