EPA Settles With Two Nevada Companies

The US EPA has settled with two northern Nevada companies over the improper sales of pesticides. Sparks based Well Plant Inc, and it’s affiliate GST International will pay a 12 thousand dollar penatly over sales of a product called “Mold Manager.” EPA says Mold Manager was unregistered and misbranded.MORE

UNR Gets Gender Based Violence Grant

The University of Nevada has won a 300 thousand dollar grant to combat gender based violence, from the U.S. Justice department’s office on violence against women. 27 universities won the grants. The University plans to use the funds to combat interpersonal violence and make sure staff is properly trained.MORE

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is looking for a pair of armed robbery suspects. Downtown Stabbing Under Investigation

Reno Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred early this morning near the old bus station on 4th street. The suspect approached the victim just before 2am and attacked him with a knife. Man Faces 10 Years in Prison For Lewdness

A Sparks man has been sentenced to ten years in prison for lewdness charges. 19-year-old Benjamin Duran-Ruiz was sentenced on two counts of Lewdness with a Child Under the Age of Sixteen. Marina Fire Now 81% Contained

The Marina Fire burning along U.S. 395 near Lee Vining in Mono County is now 81% contained. Drivers in the area are being asked to use caution, as fire crews are still actively working in the area. Full containment is expected Thursday.MORE
