Earthquake Shakes The Truckee Meadows

A magnitude 4.5 earthquake struck between Reno and Susanville last night, shaking some residents in the Truckee Meadows. The first temblor, the largest of the group, struck at about 9:55 last night. Fires North of Reno Closer to Containment

The Virginia Mountains Complex has grown another 10 percent to 59,727 acres, according to the latest fire update. Motorcyclist Killed in I-80 Crash

A motorcyclist died after a crash on Interstate 80 Wednesday afternoon.  Nevada Highway Patrol public information officer Duncan Dauber said the rider died shortly before 7:00 Wednesday evening; the crash was reported around 2:00 that afternoon.  Troopers say a commercial truck lost part of its load, leading two drivers to crash. Nevadans Split on Education Savings Accounts

Nearly half of Nevada voters support the state’s controversial Education Savings Accounts, according to a new poll. Support goes up to two thirds among the wealthier voters surveyed, according to Rassmussen Reports. 48% of voters favor ESA’s 37% are opposed. Mosquito Abatement Begins in Truckee Meadows

The Washoe County Health District Vector-Borne Disease Prevention Program will started its third scheduled mosquito abatement operation Thursday.
