“Plague” Discovered Near Fallen Leaf Lake

A flea from a yellow chipmunk in the Lake Tahoe area tested positive for plague, according to the U.S. Forest Service. Fire Near Truckee Contained Wednesday

Despite hot and windy conditions,  a rapid response held a brushfire burning off California Hghway 89, about 6 miles north of Truckee, to just six acres. Fatal Workplace Accident

A man is dead in an industrial accident at a facility in Lockwood. Storey County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened around 10:50 Tuesday morning at Menezes Bros. Beach Bear Euthanized

The Department of Wildlife was forced to euthanize a bear last week that was making appearances at Sand Harbor at Lake Tahoe.
