Single Lane Closures Begin Wednesday on Kingsbury Grade

Reno Police Investigating Officer-Involved Shooting on Mt Rose Street

A Sparks Police Officer, conducting an investigation, was involved in a shooting in Reno on Mt. Rose Street near Plumas. A Sparks Police official says the officers involved were looking for wanted subjects. No one was injured in the shooting, but a full investigation is now underway. The Reno Police Department is the investigating agency.MORE

Fire Damages Homes in Silver Springs

Two homes were damaged by fire in Silver Springs Monday afternoon, and the fire had authorities so concerned an emergency shelter was opened at Silver Springs Community Center. Forward progress on the flames was stopped by about 5 pm. Several people were treated for smoke inhalation.MORE

Stolen Card Thieves Sought, See a Photo

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help identifying two women who tried to use stolen credit cards to buy items at two Reno stores. Fewer Fatalities on Nevada Roads

Fewer people died on Nevada roads in June than they did a year earlier. The Nevada Department of Public Safety reports 16 deaths which is almost half as many deaths as reported in June a year ago. The Nevada Supreme Court has rejected the latest appeal of James Biela. The man convicted of the 2008 abduction and murder of Brianna Dennison wanted a new penalty hearing, in his latest bid to get off death row. Jasper Fire North of Sun Valley More Than 30 Percent Contained

Fire crews remain on scene of a brush fire that sparked at Chimney Road and Leon Drive north of Sun Valley on Saturday.
