UNR Plans to Sell a Valuable Violin to Help Pay For a New Arts Building

The University of Nevada needs money for a new Arts Building, and will sell a Stradivarius Violin owned by the school, to raise those funds. The Violin is expected to net millions of dollar for the 35 million dollar project. The violin was a gift from philanthropist EL Wiegand in 1974.MORE

The Tohakum 2 Fire is fully contained. The final recorded acreage of the fire is 94,221 acres. No structures were lost, but power lines were damaged and traffic on Highway 447 was affected by flames and smoke for several days. Multiple Citations Issued During Pedestrian Safety Campaign

Last Friday officers with the Reno Police Department and UNR Police conducted a pedestrian safety campaign in downtown Reno, Mid-Town, and UNR, which resulted in 49 people being issued citations related to pedestrian safety. The citations included drivers being cited for not yielding to pedestrians in crosswalks, distracted driving, and pedestrians being cited for jaywalking.…MORE

Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating a hit-&-run crash on I-80 near Keystone Avenue late Monday afternoon, and it’s very likely they’ll catch the Hit & Run driver. Lightning Sparked Fire Knocked Down in Mogul

One outbuilding was destroyed in a lightning-sparked fire last night. Witnesses reported seeing a lightning strike hit a power line around 7:00 in the area of Silva Ranch Road and Bitterbrush Road in the Mogul area. Pot Lounges and Special Events Could be Legalized in Nevada

There no legal reason commercial Marijuana lounges or special events couldn’t be created in Nevada, according to an opinion by the Legislative Counsel Bureau, as long as the marijuana is being used legally. State Senator Tick Segerblom says the letter he received from the bureau means local government could license pot lounges if they want to.MORE

More Nevada Guard Members Helping Storm Victims

Eight members of the Nevada Air National Guard are headed off to support Hurricane Irma relief.
