Two People Rescued From The Truckee River After Kayaking Accident

The Reno Fire Department rescued two people from the Truckee River last night. The pair were apparently stuck on a rock together. Emergency crews found the man and woman near Jones Street, across from Idlewild Park. The woman had flipped her kayak and was pinned against the rock. Nobody was wearing life jackets. A wildfire that broke out in the Six Mile Canyon area Friday is now 90% contained. Full containment is expected tonight. The fire is burning in a remote area, and no structures are threatened. Hard Landing at Minden-Tahoe Airport

A helicopter made a hard landing Sunday afternoon at the Minden-Tahoe Airport, but according to the FAA none of the four people on board were injured. Suspect Arrested For Starting The Minerva Fire

The Plumas County Sheriff’s Department has arrested 36-year-old Jeffery Cameron Schmid, of Quincy, California for allegedly starting the Minerva fire. According to the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office, Schmid has also has ties to other fires in that area. The Minerva fire burned 4,310 acres after it started July 29th, in Plumas County.MORE

Reno Fire Investigating Blaze at Wood Storage Yard

The Reno Fire Department responded to reports of a fire in a wood storage yard late last night. This fire broke out in the area near Kietzke and Giroux in Reno. The flames were confined to several vehicles and wood products. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.MORE
