Reno Fire Department Knocks Down Mobile Home Fire

The Reno Fire Department were called to a mobile home fire early Friday morning on North Virginia Street and Webb Circle. The fire, which started around 4:30am,  was underneath the home and caused extensive damage to the bottom and sides of the structure. No one was in the home at the time of the fire.MORE

BLM Crews Fighting Wildfire in Remote Area Near Fallon

BLM fire crews are dealing with a brush fire near Fairview Peak. The fire was picked up on the University of Nevada, Reno Seismological Laboratory and BLM cameras. It’s a very remote area south of U.S. 50, east of the Sand Mountain Recreation Area between Fallon and Austin. No structures are threatened.MORE

Governor Sandoval Vetoes Sick Leave Bill

Governor Sandoval has vetoed a bill that requires employers to offer paid sick leave. He says the mandates of SB 196 come with a substantial cost to businesses, especially small ones. He suggests paid sick leave is a demand of a competitive marketplace, and shouldn’t be government mandated.MORE

Reno Elder Exploiter Gets Tough Prison Term

Johannes Habtemicael, of Reno, was sentenced to two to ten years in prison for exploitation of an older person, a category “B” felony.
