Douglas County Deputy Injured in Gardnerville Shooting

A Douglas County deputy was injured in a shooting in Gardnerville last night.  It happened around 11:15 near the corner of Douglas Avenue and Gilman Avenue. Nevada, now has more coronavirus hospitalizations per capita than any other state. The Associated Press reports, many rural hospitals are now strained with Covid patients. The Western States Scientific Safety Review Workgroup concluded Saturday that the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is safe and effective in the western states, including Nevada. The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine had an effectiveness of 94.1% against COVID-19 disease of any severity.MORE

Sparks Police Investigating Fatal Crash on Vista Boulevard

Sparks Police are investigating a deadly crash on Vista Boulevard. It happened just north of Prater Way just after 11:00 last night. The driver of a car was pronounced dead at the scene. New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show in Downtown Reno Cancelled

New Year’s Eve will be without a fireworks show in downtown Reno. Blame it on the Covid 19 surge. The Row has announced it is canceling its annual New Year’s Eve midnight fireworks display, due to health and safety mandates. The company hopes to bring back the show next year.MORE

Jobs Up in Nevada, Many Still Unemployed

Nevada added 9,200 jobs in November as the states unemployment rate dropped to 10.1 percent. The unemployment rate in October’s was 12 percent. Nevada is down 109,500 jobs compared to November 2019 Nationwide, unemployment is at 6.7 percent. 9th Circuit Overturns Governor’s Limits on Churches

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has overturned an order that backed the Governor’s health related limits on gatherings in Nevada’s churches. Gov. Steve Sisolak set a limit of 50 people or 50% of the fire code occupancy, whichever was fewer. The restrictions were upheld by a lower court judge, earlier in the year.…MORE
