(Reno, NV) — Reno City Council approved increasing the city’s sanitation fee at Tuesday’s meeting. The rate changes from 8 to 14 percent. Director of Finance Vicki Van Buren told council members the rate change will benefit the city’s 10-year funding plan and that residents will only pay an additional $4.20 per quarter.
Council also approved the updated Wildfire Protection Plan. Reno Fire Inspector Talina Sky says it will benefit homeowners. “The Community Wildfire Protection Plan is extremely beneficial because it provides resources to homeowners on wildfire prevention and preparedness. As well as emergency preparedness, tips for defensible space and home hardening for those who are in higher risk areas within the wildland urban interface.”
